Accessibility Statement

Our approach

We build this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA as the target standard. We treat that as a working benchmark rather than a badge.

What has been implemented

  • Keyboard access — every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a high-contrast focus indicator. A "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach, so you can bypass the header and navigation.
  • Mobile menu — announces whether it is open or closed, moves focus into the menu when opened, keeps focus inside it while open, closes on Escape, and returns focus to the button afterwards.
  • Reduced motion — if your device is set to reduce motion, the animated hero is replaced by a still image and the scroll-driven animation does not run at all. The video is not merely paused; it is not downloaded.
  • Images — photographs carry descriptive alternative text; images that are purely decorative are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
  • Before/after sliders — operable with arrow keys, not only by dragging.
  • Structure — real headings in order, real landmarks, and real buttons and links rather than styled divs.
  • Touch targets — controls on small screens are sized for reliable tapping.
  • Text contrast — body and interface text is checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios, including text sitting over photography and video.

Known limitations, stated plainly

  • No assistive-technology user testing has been done. The work above was verified by code review and in-browser measurement, not by testing with people who use screen readers daily. That is the most meaningful gap in this statement.
  • The hero animation has no captions, because it has no audio and no spoken or written content. It is described by adjacent text and by its alternative text.
  • Some project photography carries dimension annotations that are part of the original image and cannot be resized independently of it. The surrounding copy describes the work without relying on reading those labels.

Conformance status

We do not claim full WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, because we have not completed the formal evaluation and assistive-technology testing that such a claim requires. We describe this site as partially conformant: substantial accessibility work has been implemented and verified, and testing gaps remain.
